This enlightening, highly entertaining and subtly transgressive class is designed for women who are playing men on stage, but is devilishly fun for any woman who wants to explore how the other half walks, sits...you fill in the blank! (For this class, dress like a man: think low-slung, loose pants and heavy shoes...). For women 18+.

Demystifying Brecht
Taught by Erin Merritt, director of Brecht's Good Person of Szechuan (opening July 12)

Bewildered by Brecht? Alienated by the alienation effect? Or just curious about how to approach this unique writer’s work? This is the class for you! Teacher Erin Merritt combines historical data, iconic examples, games, exercises and scene work to help actors and audience members transform the buzzwords into practical tools for playing Brecht and straightforward tips for knowing “good” Brecht from bad. Ms. Merritt’s thesis, Logical Brecht: what he did, why he did it, how we do it has been used as a text at Reed College since 1990, and will be available at the class.

For actors and audience members of all genders, aged 13+.
