Notes from the Director

Fun. This play must be fun. If not Shakespeare would be upset and the audience bored. We hope to offer a well lived play about the many faces people wear. Some in jest, some in love, some in malice, all are possible. We all partake. We know the playwright knows his stuff, the rest is for us to unpack. Playing with Shakespeare is akin to attending your favorite all you can eat buffet. There are engaging stories, with the sauce of beautiful words, basted in bawdy spices, there is imagery to scoop up, like huge clouds made of meringue spooned on to your dessert. And similar to your favorite buffet, all your senses are tended to - there is music, dance, the use of space, and a cheering on of the chef as the events waft out of the kitchen. We aspire to wet your whistles and your wit, bring a smile to your faces, and bring you to that sated feeling at the end of our play. Enjoy. William would want you to indulge. Thank you for joining us. Salute!
