"In actuality, there's probably no Shakespeare that Woman's Will wouldn't do well...Woman's Will is no-nonsense theatre brimming with intelligence and passion." - Chad Jones,

Playfest 2011
Woman’s Will is about to embark on its 13th season. As one of only three all-female theater companies nationwide, Woman’s Will promotes the creativity of women, provides opportunities for artistic experimentation, and encourages female artists to reach their full potential.
As a fundraiser, we are putting on a Playfest of short plays by female playwrights from across the nation. Out of almost 100 plays submitted we selected six: It’s Good to Know…. by Megan Cohen, 1960 by Marilyn Hughes, After the Prologue by Carol S. Lashof,Blood Sisters by Robin Rice Lichtig, and 740 is a Blue Ribbon by Nancy Gall Clayton. We will also be previewing select scenes from The Suffrage Project, full-length play about the 19thcentury Woman’s Suffrage Movement that will premiere in the Fall.

Accessibility is essential to our mission. We strive to reach beyond the barriers of gender, ethnicity, age, disability and class to entertain and educate. Each year our free outdoor Shakespeare performances reach a broad audience across the Bay Area. We perform in parks in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Walnut Creek, Danville, Mountain View, Hayward, and Pleasanton among other cities. The inclusiveness and spirit of our productions inspired Jon Carroll of SF Gate to write, “three generations enjoying Shakespeare under the oaks…not a lot of things better than that.”
This year we will be performing A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Our Artistic Director, Victoria Erville, is infusing the production with the passion, conflict and adrenaline of the 1960’s rock scene. It promises to be an exciting event. However, we need assistance to make our “summer dream” a reality. Our goal is to raise $5000 by July 1st so that we can afford to pay for park permits, costumes, sets, props, and all the details that go into creating a compelling production.
“I can no other answer make, but, thanks, and thanks”—Sebastian, Twelfth Night
